Yes, this is me popping up again after my usual winter hiatus!
This post is just to say that I am once again heading out to the Pacific Crest Trail. At this point, my thru-hiking tendencies can probably be described as a habit instead of a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
It’s difficult to explain the irresistible pull of something I’ve already done in a way that makes sense to others. I’ve already walked from Mexico to Canada on the CDT, and I’ve already completed the entire Washington section of the PCT. But it’s not really about completion anymore. To me, it really just comes down to the fact that when I’m not hiking, I dream of the sun on my shoulders and dirt under my shoes, but when I’m hiking, I do not dream of sitting at home. The grass is only greener on one side.
This year, I’ll be starting down in California at the Mexican border, and heading northbound.
Am I planning to hike all 2650 miles to Canada? Maybe. Yes. I’m not sure. After last year, I’m a little hesitant to become too attached to any one singular goal, but what I do know is that I am beyond excited to hit the trail next week and start walking!
